Mediation

Mediation is one form of extrajudicial conflict resolution. Voluntariness of all the parties is essential.

The mediator is neutral and professionally trained. Using recognized methods, he or she encourages a systematic dialogue between the parties. The mediator enables both parties to find a solution to their conflict, which they themselves have brought about and are responsible for.

Mediation is regulated by the Civil Law Mediation Act (ZivMediatG). The legislative text can be found here.

Training for registered mediators is governed by the Civil Law Mediation Training Regulation. The regulation can be found here.
